Part 3 of my 12-part 2014 songwriting homework assignment entitled "The Garage Demos". One song per month (written, recorded, and released in demo form), created within the environment of an iPad using the Garageband application. A combination of live instrumentation as well as loops and samples will be used to present twelve new songs within one calendar year. Each song will be presented as a "demo", and may or may not reflect the direction where the song will eventually go. Ideally, these songs will be a blueprint for what I hope will be my proper sophomore studio album, following 2012's "Phases".

A song of hope and survival. There is always something driving us that makes the struggle worthwhile. "Carpathia" was primarily written several years ago and once presented to the Dave Rayburn Project during rehearsals. The extremely slow pace of the song was not necessarily ideal for a rock band setting, so it was shelved at that time. Still, I felt it was not quite a throwaway song, and since it was never demo'd in the first place... I wanted to complete it's journey. At last, It now has a recorded home.

Oh, still water
Seep into my soul
Reflect upon the surface
The past safely in tow (safely in tow)

Throwing down my caution
She took my trembling hand
And led me 'cross the ocean
Far from the quickest sands (so Id understand)

She pulled me down
Where all my cries
Don't make a sound
Carpathia, I still believe

Miles from nowhere
Adrift on broken pine
Surrounded by the victims
Of what they'll never find (in time)

But, still she sings so sweetly
The siren and her call
Shrouding me in darkness
I never see the fall (at all)

She pulled me down
Where all my cries
Don't make a sound
Carpathia, I still believe
