Part 7 of my 12-part 2014 songwriting homework assignment entitled "The Garage Demos". One song per month (written, recorded, and released in demo form), created within the environment of an iPad using the Garageband application. A combination of live instrumentation as well as loops and samples will be used to present twelve new songs within one calendar year. Each song will be presented as a "demo", and may or may not reflect the direction where the song will eventually go. Ideally, these songs will be a blueprint for what I hope will be my proper sophomore studio album, following 2012's "Phases".

About five years ago, I found myself experimenting with alternate guitar tunings. I had always loved the low-end sound that Peter Case brought to the table during his "First Flight" programs in the late 90s. Also, it has to be mentioned that the late-era acoustic Springsteen stuff played a key role as well. In any case, I started dabbling with DADGAD tuning. Without learning any chords in that tuning, I just started coming up with stuff, including a melody line that had remained in the back of my mind. Five years forward, I decided to tune down and see if I could make something of it. What I came up with was something totally different, and a little more catchy. From there, the words came rather quickly.

A love song that embodies the initial and seemingly constant quest of finding true love, as well as the history and endurance involved in getting there. Without all of the mistakes, there would not be the rewards.

For Shel.

There were lonely days
Where I would pray
That I'd find you

Through the lonely nights
Nothing was right
Then I found you

I taste the bitter pill
To restore my will
Til I find you

In my lackadais'
Beyond the haze
Where I found you

When I found you
When I found you

Raised upon a tale
By tooth and nail
I'd find you

I bless our second sight
For within that light
I found you

I bless our second sight
For within that light
I found you
